Fiancé(e) Visa UK

A Fiancé(e) visa UK is a UK immigration category that allows the fiance(e)s of British citizens or permanent residents to enter and stay in the UK for a period of six months to get married or enter into a civil partnership. This visa is also known as a prospective marriage visa or a UK fiance visa. The visa is designed for people who are outside the UK and want to come to the UK to marry their British partner.

The applicant must be over 18 years old and must show evidence of a genuine relationship with their partner, must meet minimum income requirements, must provide accommodation details, must pass the TB test, and must show their intention to leave the UK at the end of the visa's validity period. Once the couple has married, the applicant can apply for a spouse visa to remain in the UK with their British partner.

Eligibility requirements for a UK Fiancé(e) visa

To be eligible for the Fiancé(e) Visa, both you and your partner must meet certain conditions and requirements.

The main eligibility criteria are as follows: 

• Both you and your partner must be at least 18 years old.
• You must be planning to get married within the 6-month validity period of the Fiancé(e) Visa.
• Your partner must be a UK citizen or a person with settled status.
• You must intend to live with your partner in the UK once you are married/in a civil partnership.
• You need to demonstrate that you have the means to financially support yourselves as a couple and won't become a financial burden on the state. You must have a combined income of at least £18,600 annually.
• You need to show that you have suitable accommodation to live in with your partner and your dependents.
• If you are from a non-English-speaking country, you need to take an approved SELT test to prove that you can understand and communicate in English to the level of A1 as set by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
